BricaBox is a new kind of publishing platform. BricaBox lets you make a website about the stuff you know, make, organize, and collaborate on with the people you know. You can: * Show off your videos and podcasts * Publish your own restaurant review site * Organize a community-powered directory * Make a site for people to vote on ideas, names, and more * Make your content smarter with services like Google Maps
We’re a small (2-man) dev team, one in-house (CTO) and one working remotely. Our site hinges around the concept of having both globally and locally-scoped pages, some existing on subdomains and some existing on the top-level. We rewrote/hacked/modified a few plugins to provide ourselves with an easy yet flexible way to continue to use built-in and plugin-based Rails constructs—routing with named routes, account as subdomain pattern, etc. but still allowing us to fully implement our vision.
We host on Engineyard and couldn’t be happier.
Rails allowed us to get the app to a useable and robust state quickly, while leveraging the built-in test suite to maintain a solid app.
