HARRY POTTER GETS HIS OWN HOLIDAY
A new holiday is on the rise, one for which you may need to dust off your wand and brush up on your quidditch rules.
Starting as a grass roots movement, fans from across the world are seeking to give Harry his own day on the calendar. Timed to coincide with the U.S. release of the final Harry Potter book, July 21 will be celebrated by fans across the world.
Petitioners are contacting their local governments in an attempt to gain official recognition for what is quickly becoming a phenomenon.
In places all over the world, parties are already being planned for Harry Potter Day, complete with wands, cloaks, and brooms.
Petition signers have been busy declaring their interest at www.harrypotterholiday.com, where interested parties can express their support, and learn about how to contact their local governments in support of the holiday.
Organizers say that their goal is a million petition signers by the first Harry Potter Holiday. Each petition signer receives a pixel on a one-million-pixel mural recognizing their contribution to the cause.
According to Harrypotterholiday.com, petitions will be sent out in 10,000 signature increments to government officials. In the U.S., government officials are being lobbied to pass a congressional resolution declaring the Holiday.
“How else are we supposed to read it by the end of July 21? Certainly can’t go to work that day,” says one petitioner.Tags: of | the | petition | harry | potter | holiday | tommy | deathly | hallows | order | phoenix | mural | pixel |
