ShulShopper
ShulShopper is a tool which allows individuals to locate Jewish prayer communities in their local area and to rate and review those congregations.
We just launched our public beta. We’re still fixing some bugs and are in the process of importing data (by the end of the week, we should have every Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist and Renewal congregation in America loaded), but the site is mostly good to go.
ShulShopper was built in Ruby on Rails by New Bamboo. I personally designed the site and its interfaces.
Matzat, my organization, is non-profit. We generally design websites for other Jewish orgs. We’re the same folks behind Jew School and Radical Torah, two of the most popular Jewish blogs online. ShulShopper is part of our Jew It Yourself initiative, which seeks to provide innovative online tools and resources for independent Jewish learning and community organizing.
