Basic design philosophy was, create something that I would find useful. Equally important: it should be fast on a cheap VPS and scale easily. So I use fragment and static caching heavily – most pages just have a few very light queries – the rest is cached. Most of the site doesn’t change during the day, so I can burn the CPU cycles at night regenning the next day’s calendars, etc. Data is partitioned by city, so scaling the database to multiple boxes will be straightforward.Tags: events | music | concerts | livemusic |
