Project management, task management, invoicing, and real-time group chat. Was my 2008 Rails Rumble entry!
I used a short stack of #2 pencils and a 70-sheet, 1 subject, wide-ruled, spiral-bound, green notebook for pre-rumble planning. This was a solo project, so pencil and paper were communication and planning tools aplenty.
I started the build portion with: openid-rails-kit
which includes: open_id_authentication restful_authentication rspec_rails auto_migrations
Threw in: haml haml_scaffold annotate_models focus_fu
Implemented the UI with help of: 960.gs grid css templates (960.gs) icons from Icon Drawer (icondrawer.com) Fireworks 8 CSS Edit
Referred to tons of google searches too numerous to recall and to books like: Agile Web Development with Rails 2 Practical Rails Plugins
Implemented the iPhone layout in about 15 minutes with help of discussions here: http://tinyurl.com/3xwjfg. Especially the idea from Geoffrey Grosenbach to use all the same views, specifying only a different layout and dedicated css.
Spent most of the hands-on time in: TextMate Apple Terminal Capistrano Deprec iPhoney
Used ScreenFlow to capture about 30 hours of screen casts of my screen during the Rumble.
All done on my trusty rev.1, two-and-a-half year old, MacBook Pro.
