Our Methodology: Our project managers translate user requirements into user stories tracked in Pivotal Tracker, programmers check out stories, request any required HTML/CSS design work from the design team, code cucumber or rspec tests and then code around their tests. Work Methodology You will be led by a VersaPay team lead who is responsible for overall architecture and design of the system. Designers will design screens in static HTML and your job will be to implement the design provided by the team lead. We practice test-first development and will keep iterations / work items in Basecamp. Strong independent work skills are required as well as a willingness to plan out one’s upcoming week in Basecamp. Location: We will consider remote workers so long as they are able to principally work during North American office hours (~9-5 PST), however, contract workers in the Vancouver, BC area would be preferable. Term: We would be seeking a term of 6-12 months with 40 hours per week of development. Required Skills & Experience: At least 3-5 years of recent development experience including solid experience with designing/coding highly scalable systems, multi-tiered solutions, database interactions, UNIX/Linux and support of production applications Excellent written and verbal English communications skills Relevant Experience or A college degree with a CS Major, or a technical major with a CS Minor At least 2 years of on-the-job experience in at least 3 of the following: Ruby, Erlang, RabbitMQ, Shell scripts, PostGres, At least one solid year of on-the-job Ruby development experience At least one solid year designing relational database solutions, as well as creating and executing complex SQL queries.
