Senior Rails Developer
Pay: $6,000 US - $8,000 US / month
Senior Rails Developer We are searching for a talented Ruby on Rails programmer to lead the in-house development of unique web-based applications targeted at serving professionals within the entertainment industry. This resource will need be able to quickly take over an existing code repository, be actively involved in the planning and scoping of new features, and be committed to delivering functional code on tight deadlines. 6-12 months after placement, this candidate can expect to be leading a team of several developers and will take on increasing responsibilities, including: working with management to identify new features for development working with the existing codebase, including front-end HTML and CSS, to optimize the usability of the site delegating work to other developers and reviewing work submitted by other developers helping interview and vet future hires of developers Candidates for this job should have experience: Solving problems of reasonably difficult complexity using web-based applications. Developing web-based applications with Rails that process credit card transactions. (familiarity with complex e-commerce systems is a plus) Developing web-based applications as part of a team, using code repositories like SVN or Git. Developing and completing open source programming projects that were successfully released to the public. Studying Computer Science in School (BA in Computer Science requested, but not required. If you don't have a degree, please explain why you think you are qualified, as well as any other CS or programming related classes you may have taken.) The ideal candidate for this job has experience with Ruby on Rails and at least one other major object-oriented programming language like Java, as well as familiarity and practical working experience with tools and scripting languages commonly employed during Ruby on Rails Development, such as: HTML CSS JavaScript HAML Git Phusion Passenger Nginx Apache rDoc Stories, Shoulda, jShoulda, or Cucumber Prototype Script.aculo.us Merb Experience with developing tools on top of Amazon S3 / EC2 is a plus. It will be critical that the candidate for this job have real-world working experience with tools like these - you don't need to be familiar with EVERY tool on the list, but the more the better. We need someone that has a large toolkit and has demonstrated the ability to learn and use new tools as becomes necessary. If you are familiar with other scripting languages, libraries, or toolkits not listed here, please be sure to include this information clearly in your resume. This job calls for a developer that has agency or enterprise development experience and possesses the drive and ambition to want to work for a well-financed, early-to-mid stage company. We want someone that is a skilled programmer and is capable of leading a team.
