About clipik: Clipik is an angel-funded startup in San Francisco that is bringing professional and semi-professional video and photo editing services to the general public. Our goal is to allow any person with an iPhone, HD camera or DSLR to capture their own content and transform those images and videos into memorable high-quality reels without having to learn how to edit videos. We are a marketplace that is a cut above current automated offerings; we bring creativity and a human element to video editing at affordable prices. Our team is comprised of a couple tech-loving and nerdy Wharton MBAs and a professor who has founded and funded two successful internet startups over the past few years. We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails developer to join us to be the lead engineer of our platform. You'll have a huge impact on the expansion of our platform while getting your hands dirty in high-level user experience design and implementation along with lower level server side development. Our backend will involve handling storage of large files and processing a large number of videos together with social networking aspects as well. Responsibilities: Develop a powerful Ruby on Rails backend that drives a simple UI that makes our service compelling to our target market Expand our current design to integrate several advanced features. Our core is RoR but additional feature can be implemented in other frameworks/languages. Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems Play a key role in product development and the direction of the clipik feature set QA testing (we're a startup: everyone's gotta pitch in) Recruiting and managing other engineers if you would like to do so Requirements: Ninja-like Ruby on Rails skills Comfortable with HTML & CSS (we have designers on board but this helps) Some fancy computer science degree is a perk Be willing to hang out, have fun and build something great together A rock-star candidate has: Experience developing interfaces that manage video/photo editing and uploading (we will have a lot of content being uploaded to us, simple interface is key) Previous experience in a start-up environment Passion for clean & beautiful user experience Ability to identify a problem and find the solution on your own Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining highly technical problems in English Ability to beat the founders at Team Fortress 2 (a challenge if you will)
