Kickstartr is a new startup based in Chicago and NYC. We are looking for a remarkable person to flex their technical muscle and tackle some intriguing challenges. Someone with a proven technical background to compliment our rich experience in product design, user experience and information architecture. Kickstartr is lovingly seed funded by people you may recognize from entertainment and music (good people, not the evil ones). We are also fortunate to have a stellar advisers who bring relevant experience in major site development. This is a great opportunity to be involved at the ground floor of an exciting project with existing support. What kind of commitment are we looking for? We are open. The right person could be a contractor, an employee or a new partner. Dedication is important to us though, so if you need to stay full-time elsewhere or are already committed to 2 other projects, this is likely not the best fit. Where should you be? We live in Brooklyn and Chicago. We’re comfortable with remote work, but if you are local that’s great too! Here’s what you’ll be doing: * Creating a new type of application that will launch to a global audience * Writing code * Testing, testing, and doing some more testing * Collaborating with the team on design, development & user experience * Ensuring scale is considered as development evolves * Learning and utilizing external APIs * Leading integration with various Amazon Web Services (FPS, S3, EC2, etc) More about you!: * 5 – 7 years experience as a web software engineer * Familiar or direct experience with using open source tools for development * Have a working knowledge of Ruby on Rails, PHP, Python or an equivalent language / framework * Have a nearly unhealthy attention to detail. * Have the start-up spirit or you can compliment it. * You can solve problems, generate ideas and develop innovative concepts within a small team * Have a strong appreciation for developing a product that provides a great user experience * "Can’t be done" is not in your vocabulary * An innate curiosity about technology and it’s usefulness, get excited by new APIs, and have a passion for the web * Experience with using Open Source code, and giving back to the Open Source community Required: * RoR, PHP, Python, XML, and any other sexy acronym you can think of * Data Modeling * SQL * Web Services, API * Javascript, AJAX, HTML & CSS * Ability to write standards-compliant code that works across browsers Nice to have: * Familiarity with Amazon’s FPS, EC2, and S3 * ActionScript * Google Analytics * appreciation & understanding of SEO
