Rails Developers

Pay: Depends on experience & competence

Who We Are AutoRevo is a Dallas based company that builds kick-ass software to help automotive dealerships manage and market their inventory. We've been in business for 7 years, are a two-time recipient of the Dallas 100 Award and recently placed #805 on the Inc 5000. Who We Are Looking For We are looking for truly talented Rails developers with a passion for clean code and great products. But I’m not going to list 100 technologies you need to know to join our team. Through our hiring process we’ve determined that there are only a few must-haves to pass the bar. You need to demonstrate at least 2 out of the 3 following: - You understand Computer Science fundamentals (data structures/algorithms) - You have deep chops in at least one area of Computer Science (systems, web services, networks) - You are a seasoned Rubyist and have a solid knowledge of Rails Other things that are helpful to know are Capistrano, Git, Linux, HTML/DHTML/CSS/Javascript, Ajax, JQuery, Nginx,Apache + Phusion Passenger, Delayed Job. We care about quality. Writing unit tests using a modern framework like Shoulda, RSpec, or Cucumber should be second nature to you. If it's not, please apply at one of our competitors. We are looking to work with the best. Our peer. Someone who learns from us as much as we learn from them. Someone we'll be proud to say is part of our family and who will play a large role in pushing AutoRevo forward. How We Work While our offices are in Dallas, our developers work wherever they want. Being in Dallas is ideal so we can occasionally drink a few beers together, but it's not a requirement. What is a requirement is that you be available and online during the day via Campfire, Skype and IM. We're a team and we work as a team, so even if your preferred hours are the wee hours of morning, that doesn't work for us because we need a team player, not a lone wolf. The Tools We Use We use Macs and TextMate, but if you prefer Ubuntu and/or Vim, hey, that works for us, too. But if you prefer developing on a Windows rig then you're probably not the person we're looking for. You'll be expected to know Git (!git=gtfo) and be comfortable with the *nix command line. What We Pay This is a full time position and everyone who works for us gets paid pretty darn well. We got the usual benefits such as insurance and a 401k program, too. How To Apply So if you are interested in working for a great company alongside a bunch of really talented developers, building cool software with the best tools, all from the comfort of your own home then please send us: - Your github username - A short description of something really cool you've worked on - code or tech-related, and preferably as your own project rather than something as part of an existing job. Perhaps a Ruby gem, or an iPhone app. Something! That it's. You can send us your resume too, but those things read like fiction anyway, so we're more interested in seeing the work you've done and projects that you've contributed too.
