Technical Lead Needed to Create Interactive Web Site

Pay: Negotiable

Estimated Hours per Week: 30 Location Preference: Metro Phoenix, Arizona Area Consultants in Behavioral Research (CBR), based in Tempe, Arizona, is a collaboration of psychologists that conducts government-funded research in the area of health psychology. CBR recently received federal funding to create a chronic pain self management Web site that will provide traditional psychological assessment and treatment in a virtual community for people with chronic pain. We are seeking a highly skilled Ruby on Rails developer to build this chronic pain self management Web site. The ideal candidate will have the right blend of technical, communication and consulting skills to act as the technical lead in the development of this site. We need a programmer well-versed in agile development methodologies and able to deliver high-quality code. The developer must be comfortable working with an entire application stack from database to Web interface. The project is expected to last for 8-9 months with an average of 30 hours per week at a highly-competitive hourly rate. The following skills and experience will be essential to the project:  5—10 years experience developing Web-based applications;  Minimum of 2 years experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails;  Expert knowledge of MySQL and/or other RDBMS  Can work on the complete stack, database to Web front end;  Comfortable with Javascript, DOM, CSS and AJAX technologies;  Familiarity Agile software development (XP) to manage successful projects is beneficial;  Excellent communication skills in working and collaborating with client;  Willingness to work as part of a software development team including a project manager, graphic designer, Flash developer, and chronic pain subject matter experts that may not have technical knowledge;  Experience in a professional consulting environment;  BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
