THE COMPANY Speach Media GmbH, based in Hamburg, Germany, is operating a new bonus program at http://www.freiminuten.de/. Customers receive free minutes as a bonus for smart shopping at over 130 renowned online partner stores. These free minutes can then be redeemed for real world mobile phone credit with almost any mobile provider. THE POSITION We have an immediate opening for an additional developer for a Ruby on Rails application. The developer may also be an entry level Ruby/Rails developer with limited experience, but with sound working knowledge of two other object-oriented languages, whether Python, Java, Perl, Javascript, C++, Objective-C or another language. At least one of these two languages should be a dynamic, interpreted language. We are not looking for a framework-only developer, we need someone comfortable working with Ruby, outside the confines of Rails. As with all businesses there are reporting, analytics and other systems we need to maintain, as well as support code for our platform built using Sinatra, Resque and pure Ruby. THE JOB PROFILE You should meet the following requirements: Practical experience in front-end web development: - Good working knowlege of CSS frameworks (we like 960.gs and Compass) - Experience of using Javascript frameworks (we use jQuery) - Should prefer working on a Mac(Because it’s the only unix-like operating system where you have great GUI tools to help with development, and a choice of browsers) - Knowledge of configuring, maintaining and securing Linux servers. - Experience in PostgreSQL or MySQL (or your RDBMS of choice) You will ideally also be confident using the communicating and using the Internet in English, have experience with a DVCS, such as Git or Hg. Enjoy working with a culture of heavy testing and regular refactoring. As stated above, you should also have some initial previous working knowledge of HTML5/CSS3, our platform makes extensive use of some of features from these forthcoming specifications. Preference will be given to applications submitted with links to examples of code (Github, ideally), your own projects or your involvement in Open Source projects. Please send your complete application by e-mail to: personal@freiminuten.de. We look forward to receiving your application.
