Rails Developer for Democratic Party game-changer
Pay: Commensurate with experience
The Web Application Engineer will join the DNC's Technology Department, building essential software and infrastructure to advance the party. He or she will work with our talented team on an ambitious project that will redefine political technology. Responsibilities: Work in a fast-paced, team environment using agile software development methods Develop features for an exciting and cutting-edge Rails application Adapt to requirements from diverse stakeholders Qualifications: BS/BA in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience At least 1-2 years experience with web application programming and MVC frameworks (Rails experience nice to have, but other MVC frameworks suffice) Proficient HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, familiarity with jQuery or Prototype Familiarity with SQL and relational databases (we prefer PostgreSQL) Experience with source code management tools (we use git) Experience with test-driven, collaborative development Excellent verbal and written communication skills Located in the DC metro area or willing to relocate Preference for: Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, etc.) Experience with UI design Portfolio example of a delivered software project Passionate about politics The Democratic National Committee (DNC), is committed to diversity among its staff, and recognizes that its continued success requires the highest commitment to obtaining and retaining a diverse staff that provides the best quality services to supporters and constituents.
