We design software for events.

Software for event is a very specific business. Unlike regular projects, requirement cannot be frozen and new requirement must be able to be implemented at any time of the project without loosing control on the reliability of both the software and the data in the database. Secondly, regardless of unexpected event, the software must keep delivering the expected data to the operational teams.

For this reason the process of development is as important (if not more) as the delivered software. We use agile methods, test driven development, and create the software as light as possible and the development process is highly interactive with the final users

The mix of Flex and Rails seems to me the best balance to fit our needs.
