Working with Rails for personal projects mostly with some small-scale commercial ventures and for my own projects in my spare time. My personal projects tend to be grand in scale, dealing with huge sets of data is rather my forte but I’m equally at home desinging frontends, APIs, writing documentation, and managing small teams.
My technical experience covers Rails, Ruby, Python, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL, HTML/CSS (Plus Haml/Sass), as well as Ruby testing frameworks (Test::Unit, Cucumber, Shoulda). I have used background processing on nearly all my projects using a variety of tools, including delayed_job, Sparrow, BackgroundRB and more recently AMQP based solutions using RabbitMQ.
I also have extensive server administration experience using Linux and Solaris operating systems, including networking, security and cryptography. My virtualisation experience is limited but rapidly growing. I’m more than happy and always eager to learn new tools or frameworks to get jobs done in the most efficient and elegant way possible.
My hobbies mostly consist of programming and designing my personal apps, electronic design, reverse engineering, reading, and professional audio – live gigs especially, front of house or monitor engineering. I also work as head of technology for a student radio station.
