Fiscal Reps is a dynamic young company providing Insurance Premium Tax compliance services. With an expanding range of software solutions, we need a new developer to join our team. JOB DESCRIPTION As part of a small, agile development team, you'll be responsible for seeing tasks through from requirements gathering to implementation and sign-off. Key responsibilities will include: * Working with specialists within Fiscal Reps to understand business and technical requirements * Writing solid and efficient Ruby, Javascript, HTML and possibly Java in order to add new functionality, and fix existing issues * Providing technical support for software in production, including advising on the best way to work around problems that arise and identifying change requirements * Extending and supporting a framework that allows tax specialists to maintain a suite of automated tests that can be used to ensure correctness of the software at each release REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES * Ability to write efficient and robust code * Proven track record in web application development with Rails, Struts, or another framework, preferably in the banking or financial sector with strict quality requirements * Two or more programming languages, such as Java, C++, Ruby, Python * Ability to hand-code HTML, CSS and JavaScript * SQL (preferably Postgres) * Familiarity with UNIX command line and basic sys-admin tasks This is a permanent, full time position initially based near Guildford in Surrey, with the potential for remote working in the future. Applicants must have the unencumbered right to work in the UK and not require a work permit.
