Working With Rails

Experience

• Consulted on projects for major clients including MTV Interactive, TaylorMade Golf, Disney/ABC, Seed Magazine, Blue Box Group and more.

• I’m the lead developer on T-26 Digital Type Foundry, one of the premier destinations for designers to find and purchase quality fonts and stock artwork.

Design

• I specialize in web design using web standards, producing compelling, easy-to-use ‘brochure’ sites and user experiences targeting all major desktop browsers, as well as mobile interfaces for iPhone/iPod touch.

Rails Cred

• Worked with Rails since pre-1.0, with production apps currently running on every Rails framework release from 1.2.6 to 2.3.2.

• Practice test-first development using Shoulda and Factory Girl

• Developed e-commerce and SaaS applications using active_merchant, usually connected to Authorize.net, PayPal or Payflow.

• Worked Ajax/DHTML mojo using Prototype/Scriptaculous and jQuery

• Spoke at the first RailsConf in 2006, giving a talk on Web 2.0 user experience titled “Meanwhile, In The Rest of the World…”

iPhone

• Worked with the native iPhone SDK since its launch in summer 2008, with one app (GiftBox, a holiday gift list tracker) published to the App Store and more on the way.

• Currently immersed in learning the iPhone OS 3.0 APIs with one map-based social networking app in the works, to launch (hopefully) in time for the iPhone 3.0 launch this summer.
