Hi! My main gig is maintaining and adding features to the public-facing Rails side of a remote (subset of) Active Directory bridge I co-wrote.
Well. That’s the interesting part of the application, at least. There’s lots of standard Rails CRUD in there too. That’s just the part outside of Rails’ sweet spot, so it gets most of my attention.
I’ve worked with Rails for about as long as Rails has been around. I really should get around to cleaning up and releasing some of my internal libraries as gems so I can gain fame and notoriety. Some day.
Before Rails, I had an infatuation with Perl and a tolerance for PHP for about 3 or 4 years and made my moneys by doing stuff like hacking in features to commercial webapps. That was kind of annoying.
I’ve been a fanboy of standards-based XHTML and CSS for roughly as long as they’ve been around and am often the go-to guy for designers who are trying to debug tricky CSS issues.
Thanks to great libraries like Prototype and jQuery I’m starting to really love JavaScript. I can’t claim ninja skills at it quite yet, but maybe soon…
Right now I have a half-full schedule, but would love to take on a 10-20 hour/week job that is either based in/around Philadelphia or would allow telecommuting.
