BoxStuff is a web application development company based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight. We build social and business networking applications for our clients. We’re currently looking for one or more onsite ruby developers to join our small but talented team developing web 2.0 applications. We’re looking for programming talent, humility and an ability to learn fast. Some Ruby knowledge is advantageous but experience of OO programming languages, C++, and PHP or similar will help. This is an opportunity to work on some exciting and established projects, taking them to the next level as they are experiencing rapid growth. You should benefit from a quick expansion of your skill set with opportunities to move into system architecture and project management roles. Experience of CMS and Web 2.0 style applications and an interest in developing for the future mobile platforms is beneficial. Languages: Ruby, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XHTML, XML, XSLT. You will have a strong understanding of OO programming. Frameworks: Rails, Rspec, JQuery, Prototype, Selenium Databases: MySQL and ideally one of Postgres, Oracle or MSSQL Process: Understanding of Agile / eXtreme, Behavior driven testing, User Stories Architecture: UML 2, Design patterns OS: MacOS X & Unix variants Misc: Content management, Apache, SVN and unit testing Experienced candidates are welcome.
