I work for Cybrains, Inc., a company I founded in 2001 when the dot com bubble burst and the job market dried up. I left the entreprenueral world to work for a start up company in Baltimore where our team adopted Rails in June 2006 to build a large, integrated medical research management system. During my time at this company, I served various roles and helped the company grow around 25 Rails developers. I was also fully responsible for the company’s IT infrastructure and data center.
Along with Steven Beales, founded the Baltimore B’more on Rails group. I have since left Baltimore, returning to Athens, Georgia and pursuing Cybrains, Inc. full-time again (ironically, in yet another market downturn).
I am also attending UGA as a graduate student and pursuing a Masters in Instructional Technology and am an avid tennis and racquetball player. What spare time I have left, I fill up by cooking, playing piano, weight lifting, trail running, bocce, ping pong, and learning more about the Open Source community upon which Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, etc. are all based on. Lately, Ruby on Rails has gotten a lot of my attention as far as development frameworks go, but I do still do a smattering of Borland(?) Delphi development for those customers still needing solid Windows-based solutions.
