Lead Application Engineer for Stealth 2.0 Startup

Pay: variable

We're building up the engineering team at CubeTree. The company is a venture backed "Enterprise 2.0" startup in stealth mode. Stealth makes it a bit tricky to sell you on the excitement of the product beyond the magic box effect. I can tell you that the founding team is deeply technical and has a history of winning in competitive markets. We believe that software for the enterprise shouldn't be boring. It should be elegant and efficient, it should be useful and valuable, it should be hosted and delivered as a service, it should be fun to use and fun to build. We are hiring the a lead application developer to own the the product front-end. We are developing in Ruby on Rails, but we aren't wed to people that have experience doing Ruby. I'd rather bring on great people with thoughtful experience in one (or many) UI stacks that are excited to learn something new. My more generic description is below. If you want to do something great, feel free to drop us an email! Job Description: We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented rockstar engineer to be part of the founding team of engineers. The individual has to be passionate about shipping innovated products on the web and refuse to work with anything but the best people. You will be responsible for owning the front-end development of applications delivered via the website. A good candidate will: - Feel that success on the front-end is the magic mix of server-side development combined with browser rendering - Have deep knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of at least one development stack (e.g. Dojo + Java + Spring; Ruby on Rails; etc.) - Be addicted to incremental product delivery and building products people use The best candidate will have: - Developed in Ruby or similar dynamic language like python, php, or perl - Experience with cross-browser issues in the DOM and CSS - Experience with AjAX, JSON and all things JavaScript - Cal Henderson's Building Scalable Web Site on your bedside table About CubeTree: We are an early stage startup pioneering a new way for users to communicate in an enterprise setting by leveraging the usability and agility of the consumer world. The founding team includes successful leaders from companies such as Symantec, Brightmail, Tellme and Netscape and schools such as Carnegie Mellon and Stanford. The company is backed by several million dollars of funding from an all-star group of investors including Mitch Kapor (Founder of Lotus, Mozilla.org and chairman of SecondLife) and Trinity Ventures (Photobucket, BlueNile, Sygate Technologies). The company is currently in stealth mode.
