MOBILE INTERACTIVE GROUP You will be working with a team of highly skilled and experienced RUBY on RAILS developers on a range of hosted mobile interactive applications for mass-participation. Mobile Interactive Group has recently won several awards for its innovative and high-performance products and is now de-facto market leader for mobile interactive applications for the media industry. We are a group of highly motivated individuals who enjoy achieving miracles under pressure and the joy of accomplishment that comes with it. We are strong believers in open source technologies and test-driven development techniques. All our products are flexible at their core whilst being thoroughly tested for reliability and performance to gain trust from our clients. We are now looking to expand our team and need your expertise to help us with our existing and new Ruby and Perl applications. Our user interfaces need to not only look appealing and reflect our brand values but are also be intuitive and user friendly and provide optimal usability for the application’s core purpose. Our Perl backend applications need to be performing under load and be scalable. In this role you will focus on an application platform for the group and will share your architecture experience with the rest of the team. We aim to move our team to pair programming in due course. Your input will be key to the success of our products and you will benefit from involvement in all stages of the user experience from use-case design to application build and test. You will have o 1+ years commercial experience in Ruby on Rails o 2+ years commercial experience in Perl o 3+ years commercial experience in object oriented programming o 2+ years commercial experience in relational databases like MySQL o 3+ years experience in command line Unix/Linux use Good working knowledge of the Ruby command set and the model-view-controller approach are essential. Other desirable skills: General exposure to Bugzilla and Subversion Given the challenges of the mobile interactive development area, the successful candidate will have demonstrable troubleshooting skills as well as being able to show excellent problem solving ability. You're a good communicator and self-starter. You enjoy working in a team environment, cope well with pressure, and have a genuine enthusiasm for IT, together with a "can do" attitude. Proof of permission to live and work in the UK mandatory.
