Since joining the Dasman Institute in Kuwait in March 2010, I have been specialising in agile website and web application development with RoR. Much of my development has targeted self-provisioned production grade VPS servers running Apache/nginx and Passenger with MySQL and rapid app deployment with Capistrano.
I have also had exposure to Rails and AJAX including UJS (with JQuery), I18n including RTL languages, implementing popular gems such as Paperclip and Kaminari, authentication from scratch and Omniauth as well as drop-in solutions such as Devise and Cancan. Further more, I have carried out BDD/TDD testing with Cucumber and RSpec.
Some of my recent projects have included working with Rails 3.1rc4 to the current release of 3.1 including exposure to the Sprockets driven assets pipeline as well as HAML, SASS, and CoffeeScript. I have also deployed many applications to Heroku’s Cedar stack as well as work with Redis and Resque for handling long-running background jobs (one project involved obtaining stock quotes via the yStock gem).
I’m a movie and TV buff, into anime as well. Love good food with even greater company and take my music quite seriously as well. I also have a Masters specialising in Robotics from King’s College London.
