Marc Heiligers has been programming ever since his grandfather got him that Commodore 64 when he was just 10 years old. Since then he’s studied Computer Science, worked in desktop and web development using .Net and built web-based GIS applications used by companies such as ACSA.
He made the switch to Ruby a few years ago coming to it via the Prototype.js JavaScript library, which he thought was an unusual route, but as it turns out wasn’t really. He is now the Chief of Technology at Mad Mimi, where he spends his time solving scaling issues and developing new features, and is the author of the Frivol gem.
Marc is also the architect of the Rubyfuza (http://rubyfuza.org) conference in Cape Town, South Africa, which he hopes will help stimulate the same kind of interaction at user groups and meetups as he saw in groups while travelling to Chicago.
Marc also sometimes, rarely, talks about himself in the first person. This is not one of those times.
