I’ve have been writing Ruby since 2002, and Rails since 2008.

Before I was using Rails, Cherrypy and Python had been my focus until I was off due to the limitations of Python 31.

Being familiar with Ruby since college days way back in 2002, I began to re-spark my love affair2 with Ruby in 2007 until I start learning Rails in 2008, then used it professionally since then.

My first Rails application is a VoIP product back in 2009, that use Adhearsion as a backend and Rails as a frontend.

Then I worked professionally as a Ruby on Rails developer in 2010, and in 2011 as a Senior Ruby on Rails developer.

I’ve written numerous Ruby Gems namely,

  • raptget – A gem providing a ruby interface to the apt-get package manager. https://rubygems.org/gems/raptget
  • rhaproxy – A gem providing a ruby interface to HAproxy TCP/HTTP Load Balancer. https://rubygems.org/gems/rhaproxy
  • rha – A gem providing a ruby interface to Heartbeat High Availability Cluster. https://rubygems.org/gems/rha
  • maatkit-ruby – A gem providing a ruby interface to Maatkit open-source database utilities. https://rubygems.org/gems/maatkit-ruby
  • raptcache – A gem providing a ruby interface to the apt-cache APT package cache manipulator. https://rubygems.org/gems/raptcache
  • ruby-s3cmd – A gem providing a ruby interface to s3cmd Amazon S3 client. https://rubygems.org/gems/ruby-s3cmd
  • ruby-googleloader – A gem providing a ruby interface to Google CDN Loader. https://rubygems.org/gems/ruby-googleloader

1 What I love about Ruby is it allows me to be expressive without it being a hassle. It’s a language were monkey-patching and mixins is a norm, (something like a bohemian orgy party—true JB style!), an empowering and liberating release from Python’s cage where features like those are a taboo. (plus you get a switch-case statement on Ruby which is my favorite conditional statement. Oh do you know that they are not available on Python?)

2 Python was biting me too much, so I ran to Ruby. A rich and spoiling sizzling hot-and-sexy momma, she’s got the looks, love and lot’s of gems!—what more can I ask for! It was LOVE.
