Working With Rails

A JavaScript and Ruby on Rails developer with 6+ years of experience on building web applications of different types, different business requirements spreading across products to services. While working on frontend engineering ( JavaScript ), I learnt Ruby and instantly impressed by the expressive power of the language, since then it has become my second programming language of choice.

Having worked mostly as a combination of frontend and RoR developer, life has always been, all through, hand-coding HTML/CSS ( to me it is always “crafted with passion” ), JavaScript, JSON, AJAX, jQuery, RESTful APIs, MVC design patterns, TDD then you add Progressive Enhancement, HTML5, Usability, Accessibility and most importantly the Page load performance and Web application security ( XSS, CSRF, Session Hijacking etc. ).

Recently started experimenting with Node.JS, picked that up quickly because the asynchronous way of writing code is familiar to me which I always do with JavaScript, this experiment resulted taking part in NodeKnockout coding competition in August 2010. Doing new things is always exciting for me, experimenting with mobile apps was the second destination and this led me to build some experimental applications using Titanium Appcelerator and PhoneGap.

Things that I find interesting are web application security, website performance optimization, designing RESTful APIs and experimenting with new technologies.

The aim has always been to use technology to build something useful and interesting which will help change people’s lives.
