Working With Rails

I’ve been programming for more years than I care to divulge. I’ve worked in C, C++, Tcl, Perl, Clips, Ilog Rules, C#, Java … and others. I’m a programming language dilettante, by virtue of interest, as well as historical necessity.

I appreciate Ruby/Rails because of their practicality (combo of widespread use and broad applicability), productivity, and “grooviness” (no pun intended there). I’m also currently interested in other newish, (potentially) practical+productive languages, such as Scala or Clojure (for example). Or even not really all that newish ones, like Haskell. As well as just pure funky languages – regardless of (current) practicality. Like Ioke, for example.

That said, I Will (and do, in fact) Code Java (or, fill in your not-so-bleeding-edge language here instead) as well. I’m not dogmatic about these things. There is always time to tread beyond the pale even when safely ensconced in the inner compound.

I live in Costa Rica. I’m a U.S. citizen. When not programming I like to enjoy and create food and drink; read; travel to faraway places and attempt to speak the local lingo; and interact with interesting and variouswise bentish people.
