Ruby On Rails Ace

Pay: £25K - £28K

FiscalReps (www.fiscalreps.com) is a runaway success of a start-up venture in one of the UK’s biggest industries, the global insurance market. In less than five years we’ve gone from a man in a potting shed with a quirky idea to an international team of 20 and a client list of over 130 top global insurers. We are shaking up the fusty world of tax compliance with a young team, a nice line in leisure wear and knock out technology that lets our clients do what they like best - sleeping soundly at night and keeping out of trouble (at work, anyway). In an industry that still thinks IT is something for the backroom, we’re rolling out slick, proprietary applications that are as cool to use as they are good to look at. And the clients like them. And they want more. Which is where you come in. We need a budding RoR ace to suit up and join the team. You’ll be right at the heart of our product development, working to ensure that our systems continue to knock clients’ socks off by solving the problems they hadn’t seen rising up to bite them in the ass. You’ll be: • A graduate with a good degree in a numerate subject • Someone with a proven record in one or more development languages (e.g. Java, C++, PHP, Perl) – RoR experience nice, but not essential • Able to work legally in the UK You’ll have: • Software design, programming and problem-solving abilities • Experience of user interface design, multi-tiered app development and reusable component development. Agile environment experience a plus, but not vital • The ability to bring dinner parties to a standstill with your passionate discourse about new APIs • A mortal dread of doing stuff that is average You won’t have: • The slightest trouble communicating your thoughts, whether written or verbal • Any hesitation in rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in • The ability to sit still until everything is just so • The slightest interest in long meetings or office politics (or you’re on your own, mate) If you recognise yourself above, get in touch – the coffee’s on and we need to talk. We can offer you a lively and informal work environment (we have a lovely farmyard conversion office in Puttenham, Surrey, and also space in London, but your location is negotiable), a competitive salary, company pension, life assurance, private medical insurance, flexible benefit fund to spend on a range of options, and your own weight in M&Ms (OK, we lied about that last bit). If you make the shortlist you’ll be hearing from us very soon.
