Working With Rails

When i am on the job:

I am doing professional software development as full-time freelancer since 2001. After years of Java or PHP development i am currently mostly working with Rails.

As last project i worked a long time with Qype, Europe’s largest local online review site, completely based on Rails tech.

My focus is both on practicing and supporting agile software processes (like xp, scrum) and on keeping my hands dirty coding in Rails or lightweight Java architectures (mostly Spring-based).

I’m actively participating and co-organizing the ExtremeProgramming users group Hamburg, and often can be met at the local Rails- and Java-UG.

...and when not working:

In my spare time i’m running one of germany’s major sites on online photo printing (www.bessere-bilder.de). When not working you can find me hiking through the spanish pyrenees, kayaking on the river Elbe or on salsa parties around hamburg.
