Working With Rails

Reid Beels designs and develops beautiful and functional online user experiences. He focuses on web standards, for increased accessibility and cross‐browser compatibility, and user‐centric design practices. Reid studied Communication Design, with a personal focus on interaction and information presentation, at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the Pratt Institute. Since age 13, Reid has been building software for the web, using a variety of technologies, and developing a set of best practices that have served him well. He has an expert‐level understanding of MVC frameworks and has been happily working with Ruby on Rails for the last two years. Reid has started, managed and contributed to several open source projects, in both development and usability roles.

Some highlights of his past projects, all of which included ground‐up brand development, include: * Calagator: Core developer and user interface designer for a popular open‐source technical events calendar. * Open Source Bridge: Designed and implemented an integrated user experience, seamlessly linking a variety of supporting web applications for organizing, marketing, and running a large technical conference. * T’s Restaurant & Bar: Designed and developed a custom content management system for a restaurant and local hot spot.
