Working With Rails

I am a technology generalist who has an interest in dynamic languages and agile development.

My past work experience has led me to become familiar with a myriad of languages/technologies including ( Ruby, Groovy, Python, Java, PHP, Smalltalk, C++, Oracle, MySQL, Apache, Tomcat, Websphere, Lighttp, Mongrel, LDAP, Portals, Search Services, Browsable Taxonomies, etc, etc ).

My recent clients include USi/AT&T, GlaxoSmithKline, Nortel Networks and IBM.

In my 9-5 life I work at USi as a J2EE application architect. USi employs many of the concepts of Test Driven Development and agile programming techniques.

Outside of my 9 to 5, I have been a freelance consultant developing a number of Ruby on Rails applications. These have been in the automotive, medical and GIS spaces.

I have attempted to cross the bridge somewhat by introducing Groovy on Grails testing frameworks and internal tools to my compatriots at USi. Being an app hosting outfit with rigid technology standards, this has met with mixed success.

In my personal life, I live in Cary, NC with my wife and three children. When my face is not in front of a laptop, I enjoy a game of racquetball or heading out to the lake for some water sports.
