Working With Rails

My name is Mitchell Blankenship and I am a 31 year old developer from Ligonier Indiana.

I’ve been working with various forms of web development since 2000 and have done various forms of remote based work.

I spent a few years as the lead administrator for a now out of business hosting company called Manlius.com. I was responsible for no less than 5 dedicated web servers as well as head of the tech support team. I also did web design and custom application skins.

I’ve dabbled in everything from JavaScript, php, and perl. As a developer I have followed the changes in HTML, XHTML, CSS and general web standards for several years and have a very firm grasp on compliant design.

I’ve been working with rails for approximately a year and a half in which time I’ve taught myself more than the basics of development, design and deployment using rails including writing my own blogging engine from ground up and deploying it. I’ve also got a vps which I maintain myself and am experimenting with mod_rails. I love rails and would love to not only learn more about ruby and rails but also other technologies to expand the users experience.

Although I currently work full time for a RV manufacturer I spend pretty much all of my free time after work and on the weekends trying to learn more about ruby and rails as well as keeping up to date on the latest happenings in the ruby community.

I’m currently looking to make my love my career and feel I have a lot to offer any development company. My strongest points would be my troubleshooting abilities, my desire to do something different and bring the end user a new experience, as well as my ability to work diligently on any given project with minimal supervision. I’m hoping to find a positions that will accept my fun loving nature because I find I’m at my most productive when I’m having a good time.
