Working With Rails

I am looking for a challenging position that would make use of my considerable experience in the field of rail transport and resource management. I have over 27 years experience in the rail industry starting as a Train Driver working my way up to Resources Management. I have 12 years experience in resource management with responsibility for the utilisation of over 200 Train Drivers as well as locomotives and vehicles. I have an extensive knowledge of Train crew linking and rostering principles. I am highly computer literate, well versed in applications such as Word, Excel and other, older, DOS based systems. I was heavily involved in the introduction of the “Crewplan”, computer based, system for rostering the train crews and other staff. I implemented the system in the depots that were in the Scottish Regional Manager’s sphere of influence, 8 depots in all involving some 300 Train Drivers and other staff. I retained responsibility to keep the system up to date in accordance with changes to traffic flows. I have an analytical mind and relish problem solving. I was involved in setting up a new passenger service in which we leased our resources to another Train Operating Company and was also involved in introducing new working practices at locations within the local area, around Edinburgh. Many of the procedures and pro-formas I made up for local use in my previous position were adopted company wide.I have excellent communication skills and powers of persuasion, vital in my previous post and more than useful in any career. The knowledge and dedication to my new career would be total, a valuable asset to any employer. I thrive working under pressure and will work as long as it takes to achieve my goal. I work well either as part of a team or alone and relish responsibility and challenge.I have a clean car driving license held since 1998 and a motorcycle license held considerably longer. I regard myself as a courteous and careful driving and I am proud that I have no penalty points.
