Working With Rails

LOOKING FOR SUMMER/FALL CONTRACT/JOB!

I’ve been flirting with Web Developer for the past 5 years or so. Playing with Flash, CSS and HTML then moved onto things like JavaScript and PHP.

A couple years ago I became involved in the mTurk community and from my contacts in it started working for CastingWords.com doing customer service, JavaScript, Flash, and HIT design.

From there I got an internship with a local company doing Ruby on Rails development. A wonderful job that has explained to me that no one understands most programming concepts the first time, you have to read again and again and apply them until they burn into your mind (which is exactly what I’ve been doing). And that good design isn’t a nice feature of a Web Application, it’s a requirement for success.

So I’ve been doing that for the last year and have learned to love the speed of development in Rails, and I’ve realized that many many industries can benefit insanely from simple CRUD applications, but at the same time cutting edge new concepts (like mTurk based services) are insanely interesting and challenging.
