MARK RICHMAN is president of Empire Software, Inc., a software development consulting firm located in South Florida. Mark wrote his first computer program in 1979, and has been developing software professionally since 1995. With a history in Java and .NET development, Empire Software switched its primary development platform to Ruby on Rails in 2007. Mark is a practitioner of agile software development and is a recognized expert in the field of web services. As a technology writer, Mark has co-authored the book Professional XML Web Services, and published several articles for XML Journal and Web Services Journal.

Mark lives with his wife, Tracey, in Parkland, FL. When not managing projects and writing code, Mark enjoys playing and writing music and taking aerial photographs.
