Scribd needs a rock-star developer with strong quantitative skills to help us analyze the huge volume of data we’ve created. As our analytics expert, you will look for patterns in existing data, use A/B testing to optimize Scribd products, build scalable infrastructure to analyze terabytes of data, generate and implement your own ideas for increasing key metrics, and have a direct impact on company revenue. The ideal profile: We are looking for someone who combines a strong engineering background with highly-developed quantitative skills. Demonstrated experience in a similar role analyzing user data or optimizing online ads would be ideal. This is a role for someone who is intensely curious and self-motivated. Responsibilities: Use extensive A/B testing to improve key metrics on Scribd. Optimize ads on Scribd using multiple techniques. Analyze traffic data in Google analytics to guide business decisions. Build custom analytics infrastructure and reporting tools to look deeper into traffic data. Generate and implement ideas for ad optimization and search engine optimization. Qualifications: * Ruby on Rails experience, preferred * Strong SQL knowledge, required * Strong quantitative skills, preferably academic background in statistics * Degree in quantitative field, such as CS or Math, required * Experience building web-scale infrastructure * Experience with website analytics and optimization a big plus * Experience with Internet ads and ad optimization a big plus * Love of exploring data – you should love Excel as much as we do * 2+ years of experience in software development / data mining * Ability to manage your time effectively and work on many different projects simultaneously This position reports to the CTO.
