Multiple Ruby positions with 2 exciting companies

Pay: 80-140k per year

I have multiple Ruby on Rails openings with 2 of my clients. These are all full time positions in NYC. My clients will sponsor an existing visa if required. Below are a few of the positions: Salaries range from 80-140 + bonus. #1 - Front end Ruby position (Ruby, HTML/CSS, JavaScript) Localized media/news site. • Client side applications • Modern client-side libraries like jQuery and YUI, bonus points for Clojure • Mobile development • Consuming interesting APIs (Twilio, GroupMe, Venmo, Foursquare, Twitter, etc.) • Geo-location, geometry and mapping • Comfort with Git #2 - Ruby / Scala - Localized media/news site You will work closely with a front-end engineer, user experience designer and product manager to create really useful, intuitive software. Specifically, you will: • Architect, build and ship highly-scalable systems, libraries, and frameworks • Code using primarily modern languages (Scala, Clojure, Ruby, etc.) The following would be ideal: • NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB, etc.) • Search relevance solutions (scoring functions, query classification, text normalization, etc.) and technologies (Lucene-based, Real-Time search, etc.) • Cloud based services and hosting (AWS EC2, etc.) • Developing APIs and Web Services • Consuming interesting APIs (Twilio, GroupMe, Venmo, Foursquare, Twitter, etc.) • Geo-location, geometry and mapping • Natural Language Processing (NLP) • Mobile development • Open source projects • Comfort with Git #3 – Ruby – Social Media type site for businesses to connect with SME’s, professionals, academics & entrepreneurs. Experience we would love to see: • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience. • 2+ years experience developing web applications. • 1+ yr experience with Ruby on Rails • SQL Server Database experience with NOSQL or MongoDB preferred. • Experience working with Git or other VCS. • Has experience using the Model View Controller pattern and Ajax. Able to present a webpage to a user and post complex form data to the server using jQuery. • Follows Eric Evans’ Domain Driven Design (DDD) and understands how to model, maintain, and enhance a domain model for green field development. • Values techniques from Michael Feathers and Jeremy Miller and has knowledge on how to employ the use of TDD to create a set of unit and integration tests of code that employs the use of Mocking Frameworks. • Experience using dependency injection techniques using an IoC Container. • Understands the SOLID principles and knows the Adapter, Repository, and Decorator patterns. • Has used an ORM such as NHibernate and are comfortable creating new models as well as mapping to legacy Databases that was built not using DDD concepts. • Values Agile methodologies such as Scrum and XP principles Regards, Cory GMS Advisors cory (at) gmsadvisors (dot) com
