Working With Rails

The Music Industry Contact Space is a social networking site conceived specifically for musicians and music industry professional use, not for music fans. Micspace is to be the online extension of the Music Phone Book which has been providing music industry contact information in print form for the last 9 years.

Micspace incorporates some elements of social sites like myspace, craigslist, wikipedia and a basic organizational structure.

The working relationship will begin on a contracted basis, but we would like to bring the developer(s) into our fold for system maintenance and upgrades (Optional).

We are open to individual programers who can devote all their time to development (not as a back burner or part time basis) or RoR developmental companies.

You should have sufficient Ruby on Rails experience coupled with social networking & media file management. While the site programing work is primarily Ruby on Rails. Additional features incorporate: MySQL, Yahoo yui library for Ajax, Numerous rail plug-ins, Fusion / Apache + mod_rails.

Looking for a programer(s) or company who can make this project their number one priority until launch.

Here are a few site features that need to be incorporated:

• Internal messaging system
• Profile linking (relationships)
• User self posted announcements
• Ability for users to flag bad data
• User self posted classifieds
• Bookmarks / favorites
• MP3 streaming
• Photo viewer with auto rotation
• Membership (billing & auto renewal)
• Smart creation system (searches site DB to avoid creating duplicate entries)
• User admin pages
• Administrator admin pages
• Custom banner placement & rotation system
• System backup (profiles as well as code)

We have moc up pages and detailed pre-development notes available.

As this is a larger project, we are inviting programers to bid on the project's multiple sections to allow for a more accurate and fair bidding process - EX internal messaging system, user admin pages, etc). While the project is broken up into components, we are looking for a programer or company to complete the entire build and not individual sections. We estimate the remaining programing required at 100+ hours.

Due to the proprietary information included, only programers based in the US will be considered. Examples of previous work and references will be required.
