Working With Rails

Gale Banks Engineering is an established, market-leading manufacturer of automotive aftermarket performance products for trucks, motor homes and SUVs. We are currently seeking a Web Developer/Software Programmer to develop and maintain new and existing web-based software applications for the public and private web using Ruby on Rails and related technologies. Successful candidate will have expertise in web marketing, multiple site development, website design and search engine optimization.

Duties include:
* Converting graphical representations of web pages into working web pages including planning database needs and recommending functionality for back end administration
* Working with designers to recommend standards compliant design changes
* Maintaining and enhancing existing functionality
* Working with the I.T. staff to coordinate deployment needs

Skills required:
* (X)HTML and CSS with a focus on web standards
* Ruby on Rails (with tests to confirm functionality)
* Javascript
* SQL queries (general MySQL and SQL Server)
* SubVersion version control
* Knowledge of SEO requirements
* Experience with the following or similar deployment elements:
o Linux (RHEL/Centos 4 a plus)
o Nginx or Apache
o Mongrel or Thin

Additional skills (preferred):
* Rails deployment via Capistrano
* Experience with one or more popular Javascript frameworks (Prototype/Scriptaculous, MooTools, JQuery, etc.)
* Creating RSS feeds
* Experience or knowledge with Google AdWords
* Basic Photoshop knowledge
* Interacting with Amazon S3 service
* ASP.net or Coldfusion experience

Education/Experience: Degree preferred with 5+ years experience designing, developing, testing and implementing Web-based applications.
