Developers that will thrive with us will:

Be passionate in solving complex problems using simple creative solutions. You appreciate well written code that is simple and easy to maintain.
Love Scrum, have adapted key practices from Extreme Programming and admire Tufte's work.
Know or be interested in Ruby on Rails. You can learn this once you join, but you must have solid experience with several other web frameworks.
Have extensive database experience (from design to scalability). We're using Postgresql - but more importantly believe strongly in absolute data consistency for data that matters.
Thrive in a very fast moving environment, with lots of freedom in the technologies and applications you develop. Interested in developing applications for the iPhone? So are we. Interested in working hard with long hours? So are we.
Have been the best hacker / developer at your present work place. If you frequently hear others admire your work and efficiency, you might be the right person for Gilt.
Quick learner with a "just do it" approach.
We're building software to support a new concept in the sales of luxury items. We think it's a great idea - somebody else has proven the business model and it's a large opportunity for us. Fashion experience is a bonus, but hey...
