Working With Rails

Shutl is looking for a Web/UI/UX Designer. This is a tremendous opportunity to join a high profile/growth venture backed startup with an awesome team that is making some major waves.

The ideal candidate will have a combination of graphic design, user interface and user experience skills as well as (in a really really perfect world) some (basic) web development. We know its unlikely that we will get all this from one person... but we are glass half full people.

You will join Shutl’s team based in Shoreditch, and work with founder, senior management and dev teams to design and build:

-brand new consumer product to launch in the autumn
-front end interfaces to the Shutl technology platform used by retailers, carriers, and internal customer service representatives
-Shutl corporate site (www.shutl.co.uk)
-social media presences
-administrative interfaces

Some of the things you will be doing:
-Generate new product ideas with a long term strategy in mind.
-Rapid prototyping, sketching, wireframing
-Work closely with the Founder & SMT to drive the strategic vision of the project
-Work extremely closely with engineers to collaborate and iterate in two week Agile sprints.
-Work with our branding agency to establish and maintain brand guidelines

Required Skills
-Keen sense of application aesthetics and ability to design clean, visually appealing, and easy to use user interfaces
-Excellent leadership and project management skills
-Self starter able to generate innovative ideas and execute independently and as part of a team
-Ability to mentor, collaborate with, and lead offshore resources
-BONUS: Experience with Scrum or other Agile software development methodologies

Experience
-3+ years front end web design and/or user interface design
Advanced HTML, CSS, javascript, AJAX, jQuery, Prototype, Scriptaculous skills
HTML 5 and Flash
-Graphics design w/Photoshop or Gimp
-Front end integration with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter a plus
-BONUS: Basic PHP development skills such that can support Wordpress implementation
-BONUS: Basic Ruby on Rails development skills
-BONUS: Experience Integrating HMTL designs to MVC architecture
