Required Skills:
• 5 - 6 years experience in developing dynamic, data-driven, commercial web applications
• demonstrated record of success in developing solutions using dynamically typed languages required
• experience engineering transactional web applications using a commercial database required
• experience engineering message-based architectures and/or service oriented architectures highly desired
• ability to analyze, troubleshoot and design experiments to quickly validate ideas
• experience with a sizable source code base
• experience using non-structured data indexing desired
• experience with web technologies/standards: CSS, XHTML, HTML, AJAX, XML, HTTP

Desirable Skills:
• experience coding in Ruby and Ruby on Rails
• experience with MySQL
• experience with Sphinx and non-structured data indexing
• experience using agile development methodologies
• experience implementing cloud computing environments

Education Level:
• degree in an analytical subject (e.g., engineering, math, statistics or physics) and have worked on projects requiring a software development effort of non-trivial size

Responsibilities:

Candidate works directly with the corporate software architect and technical analysts to deliver business requirements in concert with growing the product architecture. They provide code reviews for team members and peers, mentoring developers on best practices, coding standards and software design patterns. In conjunction with identifying, creating and enforcing unit testing best practices, the candidate conducts routine application performance analysis and document results/application modification required to improve performance.
