My client is looking to add an experienced web developer with strong UI and backend/API experience to their rapidly growing engineering team. Candidates for this position should have a minimum of 3 years of web development experience including Ruby on Rails, PHP, Prototype.js and Web Services.

This position works closely with the marketing, product management and engineering teams to build dynamic and standards compliant user interfaces that work across all modern browsers. This position also involves consuming and creating both SOAP and RESTful APIs. The person filling this position will also work with customers and other employees to perform usability testing of various designs from concept through beta testing and to the final production release.

This is a great position for someone who is passionate about usability, making complex functionality simple and who loves to see their work being used by a large number of people.

Requirements Include:

Proficient in Ruby on Rails and PHP
Working knowledge of Prototype.js is a must
A thorough understanding of the HTTP Protocol with the ability to design and implement RESTful and SOAP Web Services.
Ability to produce standards-compliant XHTML, CSS and JavaScript code
Proficient in designing and implementing AJAX technologies
Designing interface elements in Adobe Photoshop
Familiar with a Linux development environment
Fluent in SQL, including experience with queries, normalized and denormalized design, stored procedures/triggers and using abstractions such as ActiveRecord
Must be an energetic "self-starter" with the ability to work independently and within a team with strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
Must pay attention to detail and history of meeting deadlines
Wants to learn, obsess, and teach others about cool technical stuff
Portfolio of previous work strongly encouraged
Sense of humor is essential
Pluses for candidates who have prior experience with:

Working under constraints of legacy systems, refactoring and/or rewriting old code in an incremental fashion
RPM management and GNU utilities
Previous experience working in an agile development environment
Maintaining or following a style guide
Responsibilities Include:

Work with marketing, product management and other engineers in an agile environment to create consistent, compelling and easy-to-use user interfaces
Consume, create and maintain SOAP and RESTful APIs
Use subversion source control software
Deploy software releases to QA, Staging and Production environments
Work with the QA engineers to develop test cases and ensure that UI designs support test automation and development of comprehensive unit tests for APIs
Share information with other employees via the company Wiki and present to the engineering team and other
