We are looking for a lead engineer - an experienced senior web developer with a strong background in Ruby on Rails programming, MySQL, and Linux-based web architecture.

We are a well-funded startup building a contextual social commerce platform for posting and finding local experiences that are matched to a user’s specific interests and personality.

Reporting to the CTO in a modified Agile shop, you will be in near daily collaboration with both the CTO and the Director of Product, and you will help build the product from the ground up.

The company is located in a historic building in the Jackson Square district of San Francisco, and we believe in facilitating a healthy work/play balance, with a roof deck, fireplace lounge, and other amenities. Parking is subsidized in nearby lots, and several bus lines are within a block.

Responsibilities:
•Design and develop a test-driven scalable application in an Agile environment
•Drive new feature releases from beginning to end: use-case, story, test-writing/development and release
•Mentor junior developers
•Provide thoughtful input at all stages of product development

Qualifications:
•3+ years Ruby on Rails experience. Either you are a Ruby master or you are well on your way
•7+ years building high-scale consumer-facing web apps on a LAMP platform
•5+ years MySQL/DB design experience
•CSS & HTML proficiency required
•Strong Javascript experience
•Strong load testing experience
•Proficiency with Subversion
•Proven aptitude developing applications leveraging XML/JSON based RESTful/SOAP APIs.
•Understanding of cross-site scripting (XSS) and other client-side vulnerabilities.
•Experience with Facebook applications is a plus
•Desire to work in a fast paced startup environment
•Comfortable leading feature design sessions and working with business stakeholders
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Strong collaborative skills and ability to fulfill multiple roles
•Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ related subject matter or equivalent work experience
