EastMedia

Location: United States, New York

EastMedia has been an early adopter of the Ruby on Rails framework and an advocate of Ruby since the beginning of 2005, and is the first professional “Rails” shop in New York. EastMedia started the Rails user group in New York in April 2005, which was later merged with the New York Ruby group to form NYC.rb.

EastMedia sponsored development of the popular Ruby web server Mongrel during its early phases in 2006, and together with Mongrel creator Zed Shaw, EastMedia partner Matt Pelletier co-authored the official Mongrel book, which was released in October 2006.

EastMedia is a technology partner with VeriSign, and wrote the first full-stack OpenID implementation in Ruby in mid-2006. This work was released into open source by both parties via the Apache Heraldry project in September 2006 and is intended to be a reference implementation for OpenID servers and consumers. EastMedia serves as the maintainer of this codebase for Apache.

EastMedia performs Ruby and Ruby on Rails training, including group classes, personal one-on-one sessions, and corporate team training.
