Founded in 1905, Lighthouse International is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to preserving vision and to providing critically needed vision and rehabilitation services to help people of all ages overcome the challenges of vision loss. Through clinical services, education, research, and advocacy, the Lighthouse enables people with low vision and blindness to enjoy safe, independent and productive lives.

The Lighthouse is working on a RoR application that will help many of our international partner agencies collect best practices and research data. This application and the data collected will help vision care professionals better serve people who are blind or visually impaired. The goal is to create an evidence-based system based on outcomes which will determine best practices. We hope to create a model for effective treatment and rehabilitation of eye disorders as Baby Boomers enter their later years and will be dealing with major vision-related problems.

RoR has also been used in redesigns of our web site and intranet.
