Senior Rails Engineer for Sequoia Backed Startup

Pay: Up to $140K

We’re the guys who invented water, sliced bread, and the matrix. In that order. Now we’re working on THE BIGGEST THING EVER. And we need more firepower because… well because it’s the BIGGEST THING EVER. But we only work with Ninjas, Water Walkers, Shamans, and Creatures in the Sky. Mere rockstars, badasses, and others with lesser magic can stop reading now. (Ok really…) We’re in super stealthy mode, but here’s a couple of nuggets… We’re doing a streaming media service with heavy doses of social, sharing and game mechanics. Think points, badges, and rewards for sharing and generally participating in the service. We've got serious insider ties to our industry’s top content producers and we received a full A round from Sequoia early this year. We hope to be in our nice new office by the San Mateo CalTrain sometime in July. We’re still less than 5 fulltimers but we’re actively building the core team. We need Senior Web Engineers – Rails folks – to help shape the direction of our innovative web applications. You’ll have a broad scope, ranging from user-facing features to server-side components and libraries. The web applications you develop must not only be scalable, reliable and inexpensive to operate, but must also delight and inspire our (soon to be) millions of users. You’ve got several years experience with large consumer web sites and services. You’re a generalist and thrive in early stage environments, having been involved in your fair share of startups. Ruby on Rails is your strength but “full stack” means something to you besides a breakfast order at Mel’s. You’ve got real experience with HTML right through to MySql and are familiar with session management, object relational mapping, XML, web services. You can and want to be involved in design and architecture and you espouse a philosophy of iteration and continuous improvement. And of course you can crush ridiculously complex problems in your mind vice quicker than most people can explain Occam’s Razor. So if you’re a ridonkulous Rails Shaman, get in touch telepathically and let us know you’re interested. Or be humble and drop us a line at sequoiastealth@gmail.com (sorry for the lame email but we really are in stealth mode for now). And remember – there is no spoon.
