A big thank you to everybody who has visited the site over the past few days. The response from the community
has been huge with a constant stream of traffic and feedback from Ruby on Rails developers the world over.
When I created the site I was uncertain as to how it would be received but i’m pleased to say the majority have embraced it with
open arms. We’ve had some great emails and followed several discussions on blogs.
The Highlights:
MySpace for Railers
(Dr Nic)
and Shark Jumping
(James Adam)
were two such examples that caught our eye.
The initial announcement
by Peter Cooper from the popular Ruby Inside
blog is also a must read.
Hot topics:
- Recommendation / ranking system – value of it, how it could be improved
- Privacy – spam, opt-out
- Import of original records / duplicate records

Feedback
Rest assured if you have sent feedback in over the past few days we have listened and will be taking action. We are still in the early days and
are ironing out certain niggles. Two new pages have been created that will be added to over the coming days which should help to answer
many questions: FAQ and Roadmap
Thank you for your patience and continued support. If you have ideas or just want to comment on any of the
points made above we’d love to hear from you.

CNET Networks takes pride in being "a different kind of media company," creating richer, deeper interactive experiences by combining the wisdom and passion of users, marketers and its own expert editors. Job Description:
The CNET Networks’ Lifestyle group, including Chowhound.com. CHOW.com, and UrbanBaby.com, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be an integral part of our development team. Responsibilities will extend to any of the applications associated with Lifestyle initiatives. Linux, Ruby on Rails, and MySQL are an absolute must, and a deep understanding of all web technologies from a technical and product perspective is also important. Qualifications:
· Has excellent knowledge of fundamentals of software engineering and demonstrable proficiency in Linux, Ruby on Rails, and MySQL – PHP is a plus.
· Works equally well as a technical project lead or in a non-lead role.
· Ability to work independently and provide excellent follow-through on tasks is essential.
· Must work quickly and understand that the main goal is what the user experience is.
· Must be able to provide accurate and realistic effort estimates, commit to them, and deliver on time.
· Must be detail-oriented, pro-active, and able to prioritize and juggle multiple projects.
· Understands that coding is only one part of the job – designing and testing are just as important
· Self-motivated and willing to take ownership
· Must be able to design and build web-based tools for editorial and production staff as well as design and build for the live site.
· Should have ample experience working cross-functionally with editorial and product management.
· Must have solid communication skills and be able to comfortably communicate with both business and technical staff.
· 5 years professional experience
· MS degree or equivalent training and experience preferred
